The state of Ceará in Northeast Brazil is currently experiencing a real boom in tourism. A perennial favourite with Brazilian tourists, visitor figures for both domestic and international travel have soared over the last year. As the state gradually makes its mark on the tourism radar, investments in the sector increase.
Radisson Hotel Flecheiras
The first Radisson Hotel in Ceará will be located at The Coral resort on the beach at Guajirú to the north of Fortaleza. The Hotel will have 144 units and its completion is expected in 2024.
Known as the Radisson Hotel Flecheiras, the establishment will be an addition to the 5-star resort, currently under development by the BRIC Group. The Coral occupies around 1 million square metres on a privileged section of the Ceará coastline. The natural surroundings include a pristine sandy beach, dunes, palm groves and natural lagoons.
Natural alliance
The agreement between Atlantica Hotels and BRIC Group for the first Radisson Hotel in Ceará comes as a natural alliance. Quoted in the regional broadsheet Diario do Nordeste, Rob Van Kuijk, CEO of BRIC Group, said that “the association with Atlantica Hotels will enhance the seal of quality at The Coral still further”.
For their part, Atlantica Hotels emphasised the natural beauty of the coastline. “The Ceará coast is known for its natural beauty,” said Riacrdo Bluvol, Vice-President of Development at Atlantica Hotels. “We are very proud to sign this agreement.”
Why Ceará?
Bluvol pointed out that the Ceará coastline is one of the most sought-after holiday destinations for Brazilians and is on the rise for international visitors too. The latest tourism figures for the state underline his statement.
Fortaleza Airport became the third busiest in Brazil in the first three months of this year. International visitor figures rose spectacularly and registered an increase of 65.05%. Much of the uptick comes from the higher number of direct flights to international destinations. These should increase still further this year with new flight routes added. For example, Air Europa begins a twice-weekly service between Madrid and Fortaleza in the autumn.
Another sign of Ceará appearing on the holiday radar comes in the statistics for hotel accommodation. Hotels in Fortaleza registered the highest occupancy rate in Brazil in 2018. They are also expected to repeat the trend this year. The first Radisson Hotel in Ceará will undoubtedly want to make the most of the surge in popularity of Ceará.
Why The Coral?
The Coral resort makes the most of its stunning location on the coast. This stretch of Ceará is world-famous for its kitesurfing opportunities and facilities at The Coral will include a kitesurfing school for residents and guests. The school, located at the Beach Club, is set to open very shortly.
Other on-site amenities at this 5-star resort will include the Radisson Flecheiras Hotel, extensive sporting facilities as well as a concierge service and 24-hour security. Villa rentals are already available and The Coral has received excellent reviews from guests.
The resort is also a multi-award winner in several Americas Property Awards categories. It has received the accolade for Best Residential Development in Brazil every year since 2014.
