Foreign direct investment grows in ceará 2019

Ceará carries on improving every aspect. Latest figures from the quarterly report of the General Coordination of Labor Immigration (CGIL), show an increase of foreigners that invest in the state.

Foreign Direct Investment in Ceará

The report shows that in the second quarter of 2019, foreigners have invested more than R$ 11 million in Ceará. This figure is nine times higher than the one registered in the same period last year. Out of the eight states in which foreigners decided to invest more than R$ 1 million in the second quarter of 2019, five are from the Northeast: Ceará, Rio Grande do Norte, Bahia, Alagoas and Paraíba.

Residence Permits

Residence permits granted for investment purposes by the Brazilian government in the state has doubled in the last year. In fact, residence permits in the state increased by 93.3% compared to the same period of 2018. The results from the survey also indicate the nationality and background of foreigners who receive residence permits in the country: most of them are men, from approx. 20 to 49 years old, graduates and many of them with postgraduate studies. Foreigners come mainly from the United States, China, India and Europe.

According to Marta Mitico, president of the Brazilian Association of Migration and International Mobility Specialists (Abemmi), the high numbers regarding foreign investment in the region are triggered by the incredible potential in sectors such as tourism, technology, wind energy and fishing.

São Paulo has been the second state with the most foreign investment, but the investments here only made up half of the amount received by Ceará.
