There is more good news for Ceará. Not only aspects such as tourism or economy are improving. Unemployment in Ceará has decreased drastically over the last years.
Unemployment in Ceará
The unemployment rate in Ceará in the second quarter of 2019 decreased by 0.8 percentage points compared to the same period last year. This showed that 23,000 people's unemployment status changed. The unemployment rate in the State of Ceará, in the second quarter of 2019 decreased by 4.87%, from 473,000 unemployed in 2018 to 449,000 this year (in the same period).
The number of employed people (persons who, worked at least at a full-time paid job) rose by 3.49%. An increase from 3.555 million in the second quarter of 2018 to 3.679 million in 2019.
In the second quarter of this year, according to the Public Policy Analyst IPEC, the population of working age in Ceará totalled 7.336 million, up 0.07% of that in the same period 2018: 7.331 million. Already, employees totalled 4.128 million in the second quarter of 2019 against the 4026, 2018, also in the same period, an increase of 2.54%.
From the second quarter of 2012 to the second quarter 2019, Ceará’s activity rate increased from 77.5% to 80.4%.
Unemployment in Brazil
The good news isn’t only present in the state of Ceará but also in Brazil as a whole.
While the Labor Force Participation Rate remains at its highest in the history of Brazil, the unemployment rate in Brazil decreased to 12.0 percent in the second quarter of 2019 from 12.7 percent in the January to March period as expected by experts. The number of unemployed declined 4.6 percent while employment increased 1.6 percent.
The employment rate has also increased in Brazil, from 53.9% in February 2019 to 54.6% June.
