The state of Ceará is performing extremely well so far in 2019; the economy is growing at double the rate of Brazil. Ceará is located in Northeast of Brazil with its capital, Fortaleza situated in a coastal area, strategically positioned for the operations flow merchandise. Compared to other states, it has a logistical advantage due to its proximity to major markets such as Europe, America and Africa; which facilitates the transportation of cargo by sea and air in a short period of time.
Economy
The economy of Ceará grew at twice the national rate in the second quarter of 2019. The gross domestic product (GDP) of Ceará, between April and June this year, closed at 2.08%. Which shows an increase compared to the same period last year.
Ceará’s current GDP increased 0.52% compared to the previous quarter. In the first half of 2019, The state’s GDP totaled 1.31%. Ceará’s GDP exceeded the national outcome, respectively, 1.0% in the second quarter of this year; 0.4% compared to the first quarter; 0.7% accumulated this year and accumulated in the last four quarters: 1.0%.
Sectors
"When the economy grows more jobs are generated, creating more opportunities. Three sectors make up the GDP - Agriculture, Industry and Services. The data of the Institute of Economic Research and Strategy of Ceará (IPEC) shows that in the first half of 2019, the Industry sector was the fastest growing in the period: increase of 4.68% over the same period last year and a 7.70% growth in the second quarter of 2019.
Ceará’s Strategic Location
Ceará boasts miles of stunning coastline that includes some of the best beaches in Brazil. The majority of this coastline remains undeveloped and has attracted the interest of hotel developers. Two of the 14 new hotel resorts lie to the north of Fortaleza in the area between Lagoinha and Trairi. The first Radisson Hotel in Ceará will be located at The Coral resort on the beach at Guajirú to the north of Fortaleza. The Hotel will have 144 units and its completion is expected in 2024.
