More positive news on ceará’s economy

Highest profit for a bank (BNB)

“Our focus is really micro and small. We are increasingly trying to make BNB the bank of small producers," says the president of the institution, Romildo Rolim.

 

BNB (Banco do Nordeste do Brasil S.A) was a highlight in net income, which reached R $ 755.8 million, the largest in the bank's history for a semester. Compared to the same period of 2018, there was a growth of 223% (R $ 230.6 million). According to Rolim, it is the result of a management plan which started last year that aims to decrease expenses. Also, consequently, it looks to achieve greater efficiency.  

BNB's profit until June reached R $ 744.8 million and is the highest in history for a semester.

Services in Ceará rise

The volume of services provided in Ceará grew by 1.8% in June this year compared to the same period last year. The data is part of the Monthly Survey of Services (PMS), released on the morning of Friday (9) by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).

 

The result was driven by the expansion in services provided to families in the state, with a jump of 13.1%. Transport and mail-related services also increased ( 5%).

With the result of June, the nominal revenue of the sector increased 5.5% in June compared to the same period of 2018.  

Consumer confidence in Ceará has increased

Fortaleza consumer confidence rose 5.5% from July to August, from 107.3 points in July to 113.2 points. This was according to the survey conducted by Federation of Commerce of Goods, Services and Tourism of the State of Ceará (Fecomércio-CE) released on Wednesday (13).

Consumer purchase intentions in August increased by 7.4 percentage points from 35.7% in July to 43.1% in August, presenting the best result in 2019.  

Industrial production

Ceará's industrial production was the fourth largest in the country in the first six months of the year. The index registered a growth of 3.1% in June, behind Rio Grande do Sul (8%), Paraná (7, 8%) and Santa Catarina (4.7%).

In the second quarter of this year, the index showed a growth of 5.9%, compared to the slight advance of 0.4% in the first quarter. Compared to June last year there was a slight growth of 0.7%. In 12 months, Ceará accumulated a variation of 1.9%.
