Brazil tourism – an increase of 1.8% in 2019

There were 97.1 million passengers registered last year. These figures show a tourism increase of 1.8% according to the National Civil Aviation Agency. Also, Anac data showed that the state of Ceará received 129,400 international visitors in the first half of 2019.

 

Fortaleza Airport received 99% more foreigners in the first half of this year. The number made Ceará the state with the greatest increase in the number of foreign passengers.

 

Tourism in 2019

Throughout 2019, nine months recorded a growth in the number of tourists traveling through Brazil, specially February, which presented an 8% increase in comparison to the same period of 2018. Then, the months of October (4.8%), March (3.7%), November (2.9%) and September (2.4%) showed the largest increase in 2019.

 

Tourism is a key sector for the Brazilian economy. Marcelo Álvaro Antônio, emphasized that 2019 was a historic year for Brazilian tourism. “2019 marked the beginning of hard and constant work to place tourism at the top of the country's development agenda.”

 

U.S., Canada and Australia

Federal Police data, obtained by the Ministry of Tourism, showed an increase of almost 16% in the entry of tourists in Brazil from the United States, Canada and Australia between the months of June and December 2019.

 

A study released by the Brazilian Association of Corporate Travel Agencies (Abracorp) points out that business tourism in Brazil ended 2019 with a growth of 9.5%, compared to the previous year. It has been made clear that Brazil is an emerging market and some areas in particular, such as the northeast have seen a huge interest from foreigner investors.
